You leave when you know

To the extent that one is given the time, one knows when it is time.

Remember mother exiting after expending all possible efforts at final family reconciliation.

Remember client settling into hospice. Exiting after there was nothing more to say or hear. Quickly.

Those with time to exit being accorded some opportunity.

Those not so accorded, such as my father, given the fast teardown. Last missive incapacities.

So much intended.

Not so much a mystery.

How long how long will I slide
Separate my side I don’t

Cemetery where I married a thief
