Always There

Someone reading a pocket book in the long store line, December 24. Impressed that someone thought to bring a book. Impressed that anyone was reading a hand-held book, though see more of it on the buses.

Expressed my admiration. She was reading Viktor Frankl’s Man’s Search for Meaning (1946). Knew the name of the author, but had not read the book.

She said she started to look for direction after having had four children.

Said “If you’re looking, it’s always there.”

Then she was gone.

Seemed like a nice theme for the Christmas period.

From an event that didn’t seem random.
