Mr. Hall

Mr. Hall.

Always Mr. Hall. Don’t remember, or maybe never knew, his first name. Grade 9 History teacher at Ridgemont High School., this being 1966-1967. Seemed to be much older than I am now.

Was away ill a lot, but kept coming back.

Always wore a grey suit and tie, with white shirt. Approaches to how teachers presented themselves were evolving, but none affected him.

Everything proper, logical and informative, with soft voice and cough.

Kept going, when he didn’t have to.

Then he was gone.

With no searchable obituary, but a positive mark in memory, decades later.

Similar attachments in every life.

Maybe.
