Don’t know what is the proper distance between the private personality and the organizational persona. Know there must be some distance. Remember being interviewed by a major bank and the young interviewer was fighting to contain his personality. Wondered where he would be on the split in a couple of decades.
Yet at the law firm, people seem to be only shades away from the private, if there is any separation at all. What you see is, in almost all cases, who the person is. Have encountered this when socializing separately with people one sees in work environment every day. Personas unwelcome.
Seems that if one looks back on one’s working career as being a separate face…
Do you know who I was?
