Game

She mentioned that she plays chess regularly with her teenage sons, just as her father played chess with her.

Can’t recall any board games that I played with my parents. Recall playing Tens with my older daughter, where we added an ending as to guessing what figure we had created in the match. Went from there to creating a separate game of Eights, with our own handmade, coloured pieces. Also checkers, but without the same sense of discovery.

Games as such major connectors. My mother thought I would be good at bridge, but the lessons didn’t happen.

She mentioned that her husband, twenty years later, still gets together with his friends to play Dungeons & Dragons, downstairs, for hours. Major card collection.

Teachings.
