C’est En Face, Ou…

Something about Montreal. Grabs you in the move. Says you better get it.

Remember being very much affected when first seeing Réjeanne Padovani in the 1970s. How some guy ends up as part of the pavement, when building the Montreal overpasses, because he didn’t get it, didn’t want to know it, or didn’t want to change for it.

Taught at Concordia, 1987-1992. Learned as much as I taught.

New retail business opened in Montreal, based hors du Québec.

First shops firebombed. No suspects.

It was the students telling me what was going on. Flamed out shops caused by people who didn’t know this particular Montreal scene. Thought they could develop their own supplier network. Didn’t realize, or refused to acknowledge (probably the latter; they were likely reminded, more than once) that there was one Montreal supplier, Company X.

No business for Company X, and you do no business.

New kids haven’t been back in Montreal, since.

Perspectives from my students, late teens and early 20s. Future accounting professionals.

No outrage at the outcome. Just surprise that the new kids didn’t get it.

Something about Montreal. Grabs you in the move. Says you better get it.
