I have previously written about the unique voice of Ronnie Dunn. Such emotion, such pain. Recently, he has become quite concerned about economic disparities. He is undoubtedly financially comfortable, as a result of his music career, over multiple decades. Still, there is a risk taken, in terms of loss of audience, in coming out so clearly in favour of fundamental political and social change. Here are some of his Facebook comments, all made during the course of yesterday:
Hard to be employed when the people that we elect to create jobs are taking money from the companies that are selling us out. Politicians aren’t in politics to do the right things, they are in politics to gain power and to make money.
…the ONLY true power that WE THE PEOPLE have is to vote. That sounds like a cliche’ but we have to clean house, over and over again until the people running for office (Democrat or Republican) get the message that voters (the people) are paying attention to what THEY are doing. If WE are going to preserve and insure our freedom (Democracy) WE are going to have to take America back.
Everyone… EVERYONE campaigns by telling America that THEY are going to change Washington.
Once they get there, their heads are handed to them. “Washington isn’t broken, it’s bought !”
Sorry if I got carried away. I’ll stick to music.
It’s very important for influential public figures to encourage political engagement. Hope he will get carried away again. “Cost of Livin'” doesn’t end in a day:
